Weeknotes #2008

Dear Diary it has been almost exactly 1 and 1/2 years since my last week notes. Please forgive me.

First off, you’ve not missed 2000 notes, I changed the naming scheme based off of this blog post which is based off of this blog post which is apparently based off of other blog posts.

Henry ๐Ÿคบ

It was a public holiday on Monday this week (for the King’s birthday apparently) and I used my free day to absolutely smash my wrists completing Henry Simulator II (Kingdom Come Deliverance II). What a game! It definitely had ups and downs – tracking a person in the dark in a new city I’d never been in tested my patience for sure – but it really picked up and I certainly enjoyed it. I also heard it might have had more lines of dialogue than Baldur’s Gate 3 but sometimes I felt like people were talking for the sake of it so I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Work ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿ’ป

On Tuesday I won our office’s quarterly reward for receiving the most positive feedback which made me feel pretty good about myself, as did the monetary prize – well, I say monetary, vouchers. But still.

Mr Resident ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ

As if the week couldn’t get any better I missed a call from my visa lawyer whilst in the bathroom on Wednesday. When they eventually called back an agonising 5 hours later I was told my permanent residency had been granted. I applied for my 820 back in October 2022 and it was granted on my birthday 2 months later. For the second part, the 801, we applied at the beginning of November 2024 and we were in for a bit of a longer wait this time. I spent a lot of time since then worrying about what if they asked us for more evidence or asked me for another medical. Thankfully it wasn’t at all necessary as I’M A PERMANENT RESIDENT NOW. Next stop – citizenship. It is quite nice not having to worry about being forced to leave the place that is now my home in the foreseeable future.

We went out to celebrate on Friday night and I ate waaaaaaay too much sticky date pudding and had to go home and lie down. I’ve apparently hit the point in my life where I can experience pain from overeating.

Whales ๐Ÿ‹

On Sunday we went for a walk up the memorial walk near where we live to look for whales. It was a gorgeous day and we did spot the maritime mammals. They were quite far out but we’re professionals armed with some ridiculous binoculars.

A photo out to the ocean from Shepherds Hill Complex. There's shrubbery along the bottom of the ultra wide photo and then blue ocean rippling in the midground and a sparsely populated with cloudy sky in the horizon.

Quickfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Gaming ๐ŸŽฎ

TV ๐Ÿ“บ

  • Loving Taskmaster Series 19.
  • Working our way through Succession. Absolutely gobsmacked by the events of Season 4 Episode 3.
  • Thea has been watching Below Deck Down Under so I am watching by osmosis. So much needless drama.

Computering ๐Ÿ’ป

Weather โ„๏ธ

  • It has been so, so, so cold. Freezing. Frigid…. in our flat. Outside where the sun is it’s not been so bad. Since I’m a permanent resident I should come to accept this now.
    • Related to this – our air-conditioner died. At least it had the decency to go kaput after the 13ยบC day.
