Week Notes #3
This week has felt hectic. But it shouldn’t have felt that way.
It has been nice to write down what I did with my time for the past two weeks. I feel like it sort of validates what I did but also makes me realise I do actually do stuff even if I don’t do stuff.
I liked the categorising of things from last week so I’m going to do that again.
Weather 🌦️
- Do I want to always lead with weather? It’s been a lot cooler this week thank goodness. Saturday had some pretty freaky thunderstorms in the morning though. More on that later.
Personal 💆♂️
- Still on the light exercise train. Smashed out my target by the end of Thursday this week so everything on top of that is extra 😁 I do personal training once a week to try and help my core strength because I’m super tall and it felt quite easy this week but come Friday everything was one giant, leggy DOM ache.
- On Friday evening after Thea had binged out some Lego Harry Potter we went for dinner at the surfhouse down by the sea. We weren’t out long but after a long week it was nice to just be lazy and get some tasty food 🍟
- On Saturday morning we wanted to go for a nice and early walk to a local market. I’d told a friend I would go rain or shine but the torrential thunderstorms causing our road to turn into a river was a bit of a stretch 🌊 Thankfully it cleared up a little later and we headed down nearer lunch time into the muggy outside world that the earlier weather had created. We didn’t get anything apart from food but Thea discovered Gozleme and ran into some people she used to work with running a stall which was a nice little surprise.
- I organised my wardrobe. Culled many items of clothing and organised it by type afterwards. So pleasing to look at now… as long as you don’t look inside the suitcase. STAY AWAY FROM THE SUITCASE 🧳
- Went out to an Egyptian restaurant on Saturday night with our friends. I’m a picky eater but everything was delicious and there was a belly dancing show going on as well 💃
- Lazy rainy Sunday! Blissful. And my tall man back can recover from the tiny little chairs we sat on the night before 😭

Work 👨💻
- I feel through a combination of factors that my productivity at work is down at the moment. I think it’s a lot of “oh god why isn’t it Christmas yet?” and getting pulled around into multiple tasks and other bits of work 🫠 Obviously I’m there putting in the hours but the time trackers are all over the place. Actually I still tracked on average about the same as usual. What’s going on?
- Work continues to be a great place, office or Slack, to socialise (who’d have thought?) and in the office I now sort of float between my desk and the sofa 😅 only one of which has the fancy monitor work bought me but I am easily swayed by comfort and people.
- We’re catching up on a backlog of monthly work lunches. This week Lily opted for Greek takeaway. I got talked into trying a delicious dip called Taramasalata a few times before it was revealed to be fish eggs all blitzed up. It was tasty but not sure how I feel about that.
- I struggle a bit now at the weekends. It’s nice to have work friends.
Tech 📱
- In an attempt to feel better about myself by buying stupidly expensive things I upgraded my iPhone 13 Mini to an iPhone 15 Pro Max under the guise of maybe trying to take photos as a hobby / my older eyes needing a bigger screen 👀 Buying a new phone that’s constantly out of stock is tough, especially if you want to do an in-store trade in as you essentially have to keep checking stock at the store then leg it there as that’s the only way you can do it 🏃♂️ After missing out on Thursday I just ordered online for in-store pickup on Friday when another one appeared and am going to roll the dice with the mail-in trade gods.
