Week Notes #2

The past week has certainly been a bit of a slow one so a bit of a weird choice to decide to start doing notes but here we are hey? 🤷‍♂️

I’m going to haphazardly break things up into sections.

Weather 🌧️

Let’s get the easy bits out of the way first. It rained on Thursday and Friday and it was delightful ⛈️ It’s going to be a long hot summer in Australia so a few days of rain was direly needed but also it made me feel at home and brought out a sort of chaotic English nature at work. Don’t worry though. It’s 29°C as I write this. It didn’t last long. I have returned to normal.

We gave up on trying to buy a house. Maybe next year. We decided to try and appreciate the great location where we’re renting instead of getting on the ladder and being forced to live outside the city. We went to a beach on Saturday just for some chips and a little look around. It was great 🏝️🪼
I’ve been watching Thea play a lot of LEGO Harry Potter on the Switch. I don’t know how children are meant to be able to play this game but their brains are wired differently I guess. It’s like sensory overload and there’s so many little puzzles 🧩 What charm it has with its funny little cutscenes is cancelled out by the unrelenting assaults of repeating sounds in the levels.
In an attempt to feel like I had some control in my life I shaved off my beard on Monday night, down to a moustache 👨🏼, and then after a particularly bad Friday evening I shaved that off too. I look younger now.
After I got smashed with COVID a couple of months ago my desire to exercise greatly diminished then I was hit by a recurring injury which stopped me too but this week I managed to exercise 5 times which is a pretty good record for me and god I missed endorphins 🏃‍♂️

I’ve been heading into the office 2/3 times a week for a month or two now and I am really enjoying it but I think mostly because I’m a very social creature and I didn’t realise how much I was missing it 😔
Work friendships are funny things aren’t they? I’ve somewhat recently became friends with someone much younger than me and it’s been fantastic. It’s probably not something that would happen outside of work right? Anyway, I feel a bit more youthful myself and it’s just good fun ☺️

Tried to redesign this website in Figma (again) and failed miserably (again). I know what would make me happy but I can’t accurately convey it. It’s quite frustrating 😖
