VW-T

VW-T are a Volkswagen Transporter conversion company and they wanted a new, faster website. In collaboration with Good Looking Design I created a new WordPress powered site with a modern front-end sprinkled with Vue for dynamism.

The site is predominantly a brochure site, listing out all the possible ways your van can be modified including for sleeping, cooking and using water, however it also has a listings aspect - a lighter take on selling as opposed to a full blown e-commerce solution.

The site's front end was bundled using Webpack to allow for using Sass, ES6 and Nunjucks templating and uses Vue throughout to create more dynamic components for the site such as:

  • a day / night van layout viewer with hotspots to gain more information
  • a filterable list of vans ready made to be sold
  • a dynamically updating enquiry form that allows you to enquire about building a specific van

And was built to be fast loading and accessible as the client's SEO provider required a high Lighthouse score.

This entire front end was then tied into a Dockerised WordPress site with a custom Timber theme. Bedrock allows me to version control the WordPress site efficiently and Timber allows me to separate the logic for each template page from its presentation, which uses Twig to allow for cleaner coding and sometimes direct copy and pasting from Nunjucks. The Dockerisation of the site allows anyone in the future to work on the site in the same development environment as myself and deploy easily using Flightplan.

Tech used: Dockerised WordPress (Bedrock with Timber Theme), Webpack, Sass, ES6, Vue
